Our Spring Mantle and a Blanket Fort

The St Patrick's Day stuff is down in our house, and some Spring/Easter stuff has gone up.

I'm loving the fun bright pops of color!!! I'm working on getting the other Spring/Easter decor up!

Here is our mantle that's done.

This is the first time that I have a mantle to decorate in this house {we had a wood burning f/p in our first home}, we didn't get an electric fireplace right away, and we have hopes of installing a gas fireplace some day, but as for now we have an electric one. It used to be under the tv, but I was never able to decorate with anything other then things 6 inches and below, we moved things around a bit, and now I can decorate the mantle! 

We needed something with some height so I grabbed some sticks from a tree that fell down in the back yard, they were super-dead, so they took quite a bit of spray paint, at one point I wasn't even sure that the spray paint would do anything but soak in, but after leaving them over night and going out the next morning and giving them another coat, they are now white!

A barn sash window that hasn't been used in a while worked great to prop up for some more height, and I tied some fabric that was left over from the front door wreath to hang the S onto the window. Just a simple push pin pushed into the top of the window holds the fabric in place..

 

I used some vases that I had picked up in California that were the perfect color! A blue lamp that was just picked up at Target {thank you buy one get one 50% sale}.

I LOVE the light it adds in the evenings!

I am loving the super-easy Spring Bunting on the front!

We had the bird, he used to be dark brown, some white paint gave him a fresh look!!

And the Easter Egg hunt this way box is from Real Deals.

I tried to use lots of pops of color and it's such a fresh bright space.

Here it is again!!!

In other news:

We are loving the new camera, I'm noticing such a difference!!! Kiddos have been enjoying playing outside in the nice weather, 60's and 70's in March in ND is pretty much unheard of, we are all loving it!!

They put the new pillows to good use yesterday to make a fort.

Tieka's never far from them, but always far enough away!

We have some pretty photogenic kiddos, but Tieka is sometimes another story, she likes to close her eyes or have her ears down.

Turns out, the combination of holding up a treat, asking a question and having a good camera is a winning formula.

I'm in love with this picture we just took of her, and pretty sure it's a framer!
